On to the WCAC championship game goes top-seed DeMatha following a 57-35 win over 8th seed St. John’s.
The two teams were relatively close throughout the game, until the Stags broke away in the fourth quarter, outscoring St. John’s 22-8 to secure their win.
D.J. Harvey and Markelle Fultz were crucial to DeMatha’s victory. The duo combined to score DeMatha’s the first 17 points of the second half. Harvey ended the game with 17 points. Fultz wrapped things up not far behind with 13 points.
Now 27-3, DeMatha remains the top team in Maryland and 18th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings.
The Stags advance to face rival Gonzaga in the WCAC finals. The two teams squared off twice already this month, DeMatha taking both games.
