DeMatha rolled over Roselle Catholic in the Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, MA on Saturday. Many picked Roselle, ranked 4th in the country by DigitalSports, over the 18th ranked Stags, but DeMatha proved them wrong with a huge 69-45.
The Stags’ victory spurred from their strong defense that kept Roselle from ever gaining momentum. The Lions manage a late push offensively, but DeMatha’s consistent 20+ point cushion did not allow any sort of threat.
Markelle Fultz led the Stags with 25 points and three steals. With this season the junior’s first year on the varsity team, Fultz surely has not disappointed.
Backing up Fultz were DJ Harvey and Nate Darling with 13 and nine points, respectively.
With an emphatic win over such a strong opponent, expect big things to come from DeMatha as they look to keep climbing up the rankings.
